Painting pictures of the mind – a short stream of conciousness flash about living paintings

Painting pictures in the mind

Painting pictures in the mind

At first sight, Painting pictures of the mind seems merely to present images of the countryside but deeper waters are flowing in this flash.

Painting pictures of the mind is a stream of consciousness creative short story in which living paintings and the stories they contain are anthropomorphically examined about bringing art to life for artists and viewers.

The reader is drawn into a deepening web of creativity with a series of interconnected characters presenting different realities from different points of view.

The perceived world undergoes rapid changes throughout this short story and readers may find this unsettling until the story is over, tensions are resolved and the final picture is painted.

I hope you enjoy Painting pictures of the mind and will check out my other flash fiction stories.

Undiscovered Beauty – a short flash fiction story about the insecurities of those who paint

Undiscovered art and the insecurities of artists in Undiscovered Beauty flash fiction by Rob Hopcott

Undiscovered art and the insecurities of painters in Undiscovered Beauty flash fiction by Rob Hopcott

Undiscovered Beauty by Rob Hopcott is a short story flash fiction about the insecurities of those who paint. It is also about communication and how bad we humans are at it despite all the modern technology available today.

In this flash fiction story, we see an amateur artist who yearns for more people to see her work and desperately wants the opportunity to sell her paintings to the public. Yet, when an opportunity arises for exactly that, she is too suspicious to act.

Fortunately, despite the insecurities of the credit crunch, the world banking crisis and building trades in meltdown, my brother still seems to be able to get work for his painting and decorating business.

I hope you enjoy Undiscovered Beauty and will perhaps look at some of my others stories too. See you soon :-)

Welcome to my new web log (blog) about paint, painting and decorating in real life and in short stories and flash fiction

My brother who is an excellent Bournemouth painter decorator

My brother who is an excellent Bournemouth painter decorator

Welcome to my new blog about paint and painting in all its wonderful glory.

Paint is everywhere; on our walls, in the products that we use daily and in the colours that we paint in our minds. yet it is often given hardly a thought in our busy daily lives.

This blog is dedicated to paint and painting, not least because my brother is a painter decorator and I unashamedly include a reference to his excellent articles on paint and painting which I hope you will find of interest.

I am a short story and flash fiction writer so this blog will also be about short stories and flash fictions about paint too.

I hope you enjoy visiting this blog and will come back often – I shall.

Bye for now
